‘Coherent’ radio signal detected from alien planet, prompting hope in search for life
I read the follow up articles. And it would appear they have detected a planet 12 light years away, with a magnetic field! And radio wave emissions.
The alarm bells started ringing in my brain. There are natural sources of radio waves.
Natural sources of radio waves include radio noise produced by lightning and other natural processes in the Earth's atmosphere, and astronomical radio sources in space such as the Sun, galaxies and nebulas. All warm objects radiate high frequency radio waves (microwaves) as part of their black body radiation.
The important word here is 'coherent'. Which apparently means structure of repeating radio waves. No details are given!

What would really blow me away, would be some alien TV! As TV channels are full of such rubbish!
