Putin is acting like Hitler!  Just as Hitler invaded Poland in 1939.  Rasher is seeking to acquire the territories of the USSR that broke away.

They have signed a non aggression pacts with the other eastern European former Russian countries.  Just as he signed a non aggression pact with Russia as he invaded Poland.
